African Women's Alliance of Waterloo RegionPromoting African Heritage throughCulture, heritage and empowerment

About

We are a group of creatives, happily growing since its inception

  Our Mission

To empower African women, youth, and families in the Waterloo Region through culturally and community-led programs. By advocating for equity and building capacity, we dismantle systemic barriers that perpetuate gender-based violence and work collaboratively to create a safe, inclusive region where African women can thrive.

  Our Vision

To build an inclusive African community in Waterloo Region, where equity thrives, traditions are celebrated, and every individual has the support to flourish.

  Our Governance

The African Women’s Alliance of Waterloo Region is governed by a volunteer board of directors. Each member of the board also contributes to subcommittees for specific ongoing projects. All of our programs are run by volunteers. We hold an annual event for volunteer appreciation. For information on how you can contribute to the African Women’s Alliance, please visit our volunteer page.
